Real Madrid have made Jude Bellingham of Borussia Dortmund one of their priority targets for the summer transfer window.

The 19-year-old has become one of the most coveted players in the market heading into the summer, with a host of elite clubs across Europe eyeing his signing.

Real Madrid are one of the strongest suitors and are lining up a move for the England international as a possible long-term heir to Luka Modric.

However, Borussia Dortmund are not giving up in their bid to retain the midfield prodigy. As revealed by director Sebastian Kehl recently, the German giants are planning to offer him a new contract to the 19-year-old to keep him at the club for longer.

“I will try to extend his contract, yes. We have not spoken with Jude and his family yet. The player is relaxed and focused on football,” he said.

Now, BILD (h/t MARCA) is reporting that Borussia Dortmund are planning to offer Bellingham a new bumper contract worth €15 million per year.

The former Birmingham City midfielder’s current deal with the Bundesliga club runs until 2025. The Black and Yellows want to extend his contract by another year and tie him down until the summer of 2026.

Negotiations are yet to begin, but Dortmund’s desire is firm. The €15 million per year offer would make Bellingham the highest-paid player at the club, surpassing veteran superstar Marco Reus, who is on a deal worth €12 million-a-year.

While they might try and tempt Bellingham to stay for at least one more year, it remains to be seen whether the player is prepared to turn down the likes of Real Madrid, Liverpool and Manchester City in favour of a prolonged stint in Germany.

Should Bellingham decide not to sign a new contract, Dortmund will make it difficult for suitors by slapping a €150 million price tag on him.

Although Antonio Rudiger has had success since joining Real Madrid last summer, the club are in need of more depth and players that can form the backbone of the defensive unit in the years to come.

As part of their plans, Real Madrid are prioritising a move for Josko Gvardiol in the coming summer, reports 90 Min.

The outlet suggests Gvardiol will be one of the most wanted prospects in the market, with both Real Madrid and Manchester City eyeing a move for the Croatian international come the end of the season.

Formerly of Dinamo Zagreb, Gvardiol has enjoyed immense success since his move to the Bundesliga in 2021. He has impressed onlookers with his skill, organisation and discipline, which, coupled with his versatility, make him an appealing target for any European giant.

Gvardiol was also one of the top performers at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, helping Croatia finish third in the competition. His performances have not gone unnoticed, with Real Madrid among the clubs who have been keeping an eye on the defender for a while now.

However, signing Gvardiol will be a tricky task for Los Blancos. The player still has a long-term contract at Leipzig and could cost up to €85 million, as reported by 90 Min. Not to mention, the competition from Man City could be significant.

Real Madrid have no shortage of alternatives, though, with the club notably closely monitoring Portuguese defensive whizkid Antonio Silva, among others. So it will be interesting to see how the Spanish giants approach the market in this coming summer.
