Real Madrid’s attacking department boasts a level of talent that is usually unheard of. With a diverse array of player profiles at his disposal, coach Carlo Ancelotti enjoys the enviable challenge of making the right selection decisions.

However, the overwhelming competition for spots has seen some big names not seeing the minutes they would have liked.

And since the campaign’s inception, Arda Guler has only featured sporadically, despite closing last season on an impressive note and performing well in the Euros.

In the game against Las Palmas, he was benched for the veteran Luka Modric, while Ancelotti opted not to award him any play time against Real Betis. In all, he has played only 100 minutes across four games this season.

Guler is not worried about the lack of game time

However, according to MARCA, Arda Guler’s camp remains notably composed regarding his situation at Real Madrid.

Guler, who has been nominated for the 2024 Kopa Trophy, is fully aware that the season is long and filled with opportunities, and his camp is confident that the midfielder will have his chance to shine.

Before the season began, Ancelotti alluded to the need for regular rotations and the Turkish sensation is aware that he must simply bide his time for now.

Eager to make the most of the international break

In fact, to secure game time in the Spanish capital, Guler is treating the current international break with utmost seriousness.

He fully understands the significance of the upcoming matches against Wales and Iceland with the Turkish national team.

Determined to make the most of these opportunities, he is focused on improving his match fitness and demonstrating his skills on the international stage.

Immediately after the international break, Real Madrid are set to embark on a daunting schedule with fixtures in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League coming thick and fast.

With rotations likely to transpire, Guler’s time to shine may come sooner rather than later.

Real Madrid will be looking to pick up their fifth win of the 2026/27 La Liga season when they take on Elche CF at Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero later tonight.

With 12 points from five games, Los Blancos are currently second in the league table, three points below leaders FC Barcelona.

As such, the Spanish capital club will be eager to get the win and close the gap to the top.

Guler starts, Bellingham rested

Ahead of kickoff, Real Madrid have announced the starting lineup that will take the field against Elche, with Jose Mourinho making some important changes.

For starters, Arda Guler is back in the lineup after appearing as a substitute in the win over Rayo Vallecano.

Interestingly, however, he starts in the attacking midfield role, with Mourinho opting to rest Jude Bellingham, who has started all of Real Madrid’s games so far.

That also means that Yan Diomande retains his place in the team, starting for a second time in a row on the right wing. Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. continue in their respective positions in attack.

Another notable change sees Aurelien Tchouameni make his first start of the season after recovering from injury and making two appearances off the bench.

He replaces Bernardo Silva as Federico Valverde’s partner in the middle of the park.

Meanwhile, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Marc Cucurella come in as full-backs, while Ibrahima Konate and Dean Huijsen slot in at centre-back in front of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
