There is much excitement in the Real Madrid camp, with the club likely to close the deal to sign Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer.

The Frenchman looks all set to join the Real Madrid camp in the coming summer, alongside Brazilian prodigy Endrick.

The two are going to add significant firepower to the Real Madrid frontline. However, their arrivals may also put pressure on the club’s wage structure, with Mbappe, in particular, set to earn a hefty salary at the Bernabeu.

Therefore, one would expect Real Madrid to trim the squad a bit, in their attempt to attain a perfect balance, as far as the wage structure is concerned.

However, Spanish journalist Ramon Alvarez (h/t RM4Arab) believes Real Madrid will do no such thing. The club are not really keen on selling any player after the arrival of Mbappe.

This could prove to be a significant call from the management, especially considering the fact that many Real Madrid players are facing an uncertain future at the Bernabeu.

Ferland Mendy, for one, is not entirely sure of his continuity in Madrid, while there are question marks over the future of Nacho Fernandez as well.

Real Madrid, though, are unlikely to force through any sale. They are, in fact, prepared to keep hold of last summer’s bet Joselu by activating the €1.5 million clause.

However, it must be noted that players with expiring contracts are still in contention to leave the Santiago Bernabeu this coming summer.

Luka Modric is a case in point, with the Croatian reportedly unhappy with his current role at the club. The veteran midfielder, therefore, may end up considering offers from Saudi Arabia this time around.

Speaking in an interview with Sport BILD (h/t AS), Germany legend Michael Ballack has claimed that Bayer Leverkusen sensation Florian Wirtz is ready to play for Real Madrid.

Wirtz is a player that Real Madrid have been closely monitoring for a while now, with the German sensation being seen as a long-term replacement for Toni Kroos, who announced his retirement yesterday.

A move for Wirtz is being planned for the summer of 2025 and Ballack believes that the Bundesliga title winner with Leverkusen is ready for the big move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

“Wirtz is ready for Real Madrid,” said Ballack.

“In terms of football, Wirtz can definitely play for Real Madrid. You can also see it in Jude Bellingham after his move from BVB: when you play with even better players, you become even better,” he added.

Wirtz has a contract with Bayer Leverkusen that runs until the summer of 2027. As things stand, the new German champions have no intentions of selling their prized asset this year.

However, there appears to be an acceptance that the German international will be on the move in 2025.

Other top clubs like Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also understood to be interested, but Real Madrid are likely to beat them in the race should it come down to that next year.

A move for Wirtz, though, could cost in excess of €100 million for Real Madrid should they do indeed decide to proceed with his signing next year.
