After defeating Atletico Madrid earlier in the week, Real Madrid are ramping up preparations for their upcoming Spanish Super Cup final against FC Barcelona on Sunday night.

Ahead of the game, Carlo Ancelotti convened a training session today with all but one player participating in the activities.

Dani Carvajal misses training

Indeed, veteran defender Dani Carvajal did not participate in the training sessions with the rest of the team today and opted to do some light work in the gym, reports Mario Cortegana.

The right-back, who celebrated his 32nd birthday earlier this week, was the star of the show for Real Madrid in their 5-3 win against Atletico in the Super Cup semi-finals.

Carvajal not only scored a goal late in normal time to make it 3-3 and force the game into extra time, but also set up the goals scored by Ferland Mendy and Joselu.

Naturally, him being absent from the training session raised some concerns within the fanbase.

Carvajal will be ready for Barcelona clash

However, the update from Cortegana states that club sources have confirmed that Carvajal will play against Barcelona on Sunday.

That is certainly a positive update, considering that Carvajal has been in fine form for Real Madrid this term and the fact that their backup right-back, Lucas Vazquez, is ruled out with an injury.

Meanwhile, there were concerns about the likes of Federico Valverde and Jude Bellingham being exhausted after their exertion against Atleti. But the key midfield duo is also expected to be fit and available for the match.

Real Madrid will sign off on their successful La Liga campaign today with a fixture against Real Betis at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The game, being seen as a final preparation for the UEFA Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund, sees manager Carlo Ancelotti field his strongest possible lineup.

All eyes will obviously be on the retiring Toni Kroos, who bids goodbye to the Bernabeu in what will be his final home game as a Real Madrid player.

The German international starts in the centre of the park alongside Federico Valverde, while Eduardo Camavinga slots in as the No. 6.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid captain, Nacho Fernandez, also starts in what could be his last game at the Bernabeu as well.

Nacho pairs up with Antonio Rudiger in defence, flanked by the full-back pairing of Dani Carvajal and Ferland Mendy. Thibaut Courtois starts in goal ahead of Andriy Lunin and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Up front, Vinicius Jr. starts in attack, partnering up with Rodrygo Goes. Top scorer Jude Bellingham occupies the attacking midfield role for Real Madrid.
