Real Madrid will finalise star winger’s future before January – report
Real Madrid have seemingly reached a point of saturation on the Vinicius Jr. renewal front, for talks with the player have stalled for months.
Despite submitting multiple proposals, the player continues to hold out for a superior economic offer – one that the club deem impractical.
On that front, they conveyed to Vinicius’ entourage earlier this week that their last offer will be their final one and that the player can take it or leave it – hoping to put an end to the entire saga at the earliest.
A deadline of January
As reported by El Larguero (h/t The Madrid Zone) now, Real Madrid have decided that they will not enter the month of January without having the Brazilian’s future finalised. Reaching a definitive stance on his future by 2026 is a top priority.
Real Madrid are keeping all scenarios open as matters stand, including a renewal and a departure this summer if the player desires one. Arsenal are pushing to sign him, and the player does not seem opposed to a move either.
Already on the final year of his contract, Real Madrid are walking on thin ice with Vinicius as matters stand. As of January, he will be open to negotiating with external clubs over a free transfer and that has likely led to the club’s new deadline.
One crucial pre-requisite
The Spanish outlet once again reaffirms that Vinicius’ desire is to stay at the club. However, Los Blancos are not willing to bend to his terms to get him to stay.
If the winger does indeed wish to renew, his demands must align with the club’s offer, and he must open up to a position of compromise. After all, there is currently a sizeable distance between both parties and neither is willing to budge.
The ball is now entirely in the player’s court, and he has one of three options to take. He can look to push for a departure from Real Madrid to a club that meets his economic demands, or else can compromise and agree on a renewal.
The third, and least preferred option, is to stay without renewing and run down his contract in which case the club will not hand him the prominence he used to have.
Real Madrid’s performance against Real Betis was shambolic, to say the least as the team faced many of the problems that have haunted them over the past couple of years.
But on a night where most of the attackers struggled to create anything of note, Dean Huijsen emerged as a lone bright spark for Los Blancos.
Huijsen keeps his promise
As reported by MARCA, Huijsen was the standout performer for Real Madrid, marshalling the backline with real authority even as the team struggled around him.
There has been a noticeable shift in the young defender’s mentality this season, with the player showing more competitive nature and looking much fiercer.
This is an attitude Huijsen had always promised, having inherited the iconic number four shift from David Alaba, a number he associates with his idols Sergio Ramos and Fernando Hierro.
“What I do know is that I’ll give everything of myself every day, whether in training or in a game,” he vowed, and at La Cartuja he delivered on that word.
His primary task was neutralising Juan ‘Cucho’ Hernandez, and he did so superbly, drying up the Colombian’s supply and repeatedly anticipating danger.
He also held his own in a niggly battle with Antony, refusing to be ruffled by one of Betis’ most inspired performers.
His composure on the ball, one of the qualities that has elevated him, saw him venture forward, forcing a fine save from the goalkeeper in the 11th minute and later heading against the woodwork.
The Konate partnership grows
Alongside him, Ibrahima Konate did his job, albeit without matching his partner’s brilliance.
The Frenchman was a little less assured, both in and out of possession, reflecting the two speeds of the centre-back pairing.
Huijsen looks settled and increasingly commanding, while Konate is still building the sharpness needed to reach his best in white.
Nonetheless, the partnership is heading in the right direction, and in Huijsen, Real Madrid appear to have unearthed a genuine leader for an area that has long been a weakness.
Each performance is also an argument to Luis de la Fuente, as the defender looks to reclaim the Spain spot he lost before the World Cup.
