Real Madrid winger has chosen PSG as his next destination – Ornstein

Marco Asensio is soon set to confirm his new destination this summer, with David Ornstein claiming that the Real Madrid forward is closing in on a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
The Athletic journalist suggests Asensio has decided to join the French giants ahead of the new season. He has accepted a long-term agreement with the club and will arrive at Parc des Princes on a free transfer.
The news of Asensio’s imminent move to PSG came shortly after head coach Christophe Galtier confirmed Lionel Messi will leave the club, amid interest from Barcelona and Saudi Arabian clubs.
Ornstein adds that Asensio has yet to sign a contract at PSG, but the talks are likely to be concluded after Real Madrid’s final league game against Athletic Club on Sunday.
Asensio’s likely exit could serve as a major blow for Los Blancos, who have been trying hard to maintain depth in the attacking unit, especially amid rumours linking Karim Benzema with a move to Saudi Arabia.
Although Real Madrid have been linked with a move for Liverpool star Roberto Firmino, Asensio’s exit would force them to go after a new creative attacker as well.
During his long spell at the Santiago Bernabeu, Asensio had built a solid reputation for himself, racking up 61 goals and 32 assists in 285 competitive appearances. He has been particularly impressive this season, having been involved in 20 goals in all competitions.
With him out, Real Madrid will be heavily reliant on the services of Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Federico Valverde. They may even rely on Jude Bellingham for creative services, provided the Borussia Dortmund starlet joins the team ahead of the new season.
As for PSG, this could be the first of many signings, as the club look to undergo a massive squad overhaul this summer.

Real Madrid defender taken off with an injury against Las Palmas

There just does not appear to be any respite from injuries for Real Madrid.
Just when it appeared that they were close to having their full squad – barring the two long-term absentees – the Merengues have been struck down by fresh injuries this week.
Arda Guler, who was on the cusp of being named in the squad for the Las Palmas clash, injured himself in training on Tuesday.
And now, during the game against Las Palmas at the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid have lost key defender David Alaba to an injury.
Close to the 40th-minute mark, Alaba went down on the ground clutching his leg and appeared to be in quite a bit of discomfort.
Soon enough, the medical staff arrived to take a look at the Austrian and seconds later he was off the pitch and straight towards the tunnel.
Lucas Vazquez came on to replace the injured Alaba, with Nacho Fernandez moving into the centre-back position alongside Antonio Rudiger.
Alaba’s injury leaves Carlo Ancelotti with just two fit centre-backs in Rudiger and Nacho, which is set to be a matter of great concern.
The hope will be that Alaba’s condition is nothing serious and that he is able to mount a quick recovery.
