A recent report from journalist Sergio Gomez has revealed Ajax’s interest in Real Madrid shot-stopper Andriy Lunin. The Dutch giants had apparently pursued the highly-rated goalkeeper recently, holding talks with his entourage over a potential move to Amsterdam.

However, Lunin had no desire to leave Real Madrid as he is happy with his life at Santiago Bernabeu. As such, he was swift to reject the advances of Ajax. The Eredivisie giants have not been the only one to have pursued Lunin lately, as clubs from Premier League and Bundesliga have also tested his resolve.

Lunin, though, has stood firm and remains content with his current role in the team. The Ukrainian international is currently serving as the second-choice goalkeeper and the primary alternative to Thibaut Courtois.

But despite his desire to remain a part of the Real Madrid setup, the upcoming summer transfer window could be an important one for Lunin, as far as his future is concerned.

With his contract at the Bernabeu expiring in 2024, Lunin is expected to hold talks with the Whites over his future in the summer. The two parties are set to arrive at a definitive decision on whether or not the goalkeeper will continue at the Bernabeu, knowing it will be the last opportunity for the club to cash in on the player.

Real Madrid, though, are extremely happy with Lunin’s progress, along with his professionalism. Not to mention, the goalkeeper has always responded well when called upon. He was notably a star performer during Real Madrid’s Copa del Rey game this midwek.

But with a grand total of just six league appearances since the 2020/21 campaign, questions are being raised over Lunin’s role at the club. And if the Ukrainian international continues to have a limited role in the first team, it will not come as a surprise to see him move elsewhere in the near future.

Real Madrid have been greeted with some positive news on the injury front as goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is expected to be fit and ready for the upcoming La Liga clash against Real Valladolid.

The 30-year-old custodian had flown away for national team duty with Belgium and played the full game against Sweden last week. However, the Real Madrid ace was sent back to the club over the weekend due to a minor adductor strain.

This raised concerns over the former Chelsea star’s condition, especially with a busy period lying ahead for the Merengues.

However, Mario Cortegana of The Athletic has eased any nerves surrounding his situation, reporting that Courtois was subjected to tests upon returning to Spain and there is no reason for worry.

The report states that Real Madrid expect their No. 1 to be fit and available for their next game which will be against Real Valladolid in La Liga on April 2, Sunday.

It is further stated that the knock Courtois sustained was not a new one and that the 30-year-old had felt discomfort in the same area during Los Blancos’ UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second-leg tie against Liverpool at the Santiago Bernabeu earlier this month.

Courtois has featured 32 times across all competitions this term, having missed a few matches due to fitness issues. He has managed just ten clean sheets and will be hoping to add to that against Valladolid, now that is reportedly fit to feature at the weekend.

In another boost, reports earlier today indicated that Toni Kroos does not have any injury after concerns were raised due to the midfielder doing individual training sessions over the past week.
