Real Madrid’s €5 million-rated star will not leave this summer, wants to fulfil his contract

Only earlier today, it was reported that Real Madrid wish to offload four more players in the summer, with backup goalkeeper Andriy Lunin on the list.

However, according to a fresh report from AS, Lunin will be staying put at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer as he does not wish to leave Real Madrid. Instead, the 24-year-old wishes to fulfil his contract with the club which expires in 2024.

Lunin, whose current market value stands at €5 million, signed for Los Blancos five years ago in 2018 but was immediately loaned out to Leganes.

The Ukrainian international then had temporary stints with Real Valladolid and Real Oviedo, but has been at the Bernabeu since 2020.

However, game-time has been hard to come by for Lunin owing to the brilliance of Thibaut Courtois in goal. As such, the 24-year-old has made only 17 appearances at the club in the last three years.

It had given way to speculations that Lunin could look to leave this summer in search of regular minutes. Real Madrid, for their part, were open to the sale and had even started looking for possible replacements for their second-choice goalkeeper.

However, those plans are now likely to come to a halt as Lunin has decided to stay put at Real Madrid and see out the remainder of his contract which expires in 2024.

There is unlikely to be much change in his situation as far as game-time is concerned next season either. However, there has been a change of heart on the player’s side, who does not wish to depart right away and would potentially be on his way out as a free agent next year.

Real Madrid 23-year-old striker close to finalising a move to Real Valladolid – report

After two years on loan at Getafe, former Real Madrid striker Juanmi Latasa has returned to the Spanish capital.

His performances, after all, were not enough to coerce his foster club to push for a permanent transfer.

The 23-year-old striker made 32 appearances for Getafe last season, including 15 starts. However, he only had two goals to show for his regular participation and it is safe to label his time at the club as a disappointment.

Now back in Madrid, Latasa is unlikely to get a chance to make a mark at the club. All signs point to a departure in the coming days.

The overwhelming favorite

As revealed in a recent report by Jorge C Picon, several first-division teams in Spain have reported interest in the young striker. Real Valladolid however, are the overwhelming favourites.

The La Liga side are looking for a striker with a good physical presence, height, a strong aerial presence and a knack for goal.

Latasa ticks all the boxes they demand and negotiations between the two clubs are expected to progress in the coming days.

Latasa’s sale, at this point, is thus taken for granted. Leganes and Espanyol are some of the other clubs interested in his services.

No scope in Madrid

Carlo Ancelotti, over the years, has not carved out a reputation as one who trusts academy stars heavily. In his defence, however, he has always had superior options available.

Heading into next season, Los Blancos have a packed forward department including Kylian Mbape, Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo Goes and Endrick.

Considering that the well-established Joselu himself saw no scope at the club next season, it is safe to say that Latasa understands his situation.

From Real Madrid’s perspective, it remains to be seen if they maintain any leverage on his future.
