Real Madrid’s €70 million-rated target could sign new contract with Bayern Munich

It is well-established by this point that Real Madrid have a strong interest in signing Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies in the summer.

The 23-year-old Canadian international is one of the Merengues’ top targets for the summer transfer window, with the club looking for upgrades in the left-back position.

The fact that Davies’ contract with Bayern Munich expires in 2025 made him an even more attractive prospect for Real Madrid.

Davies could sign new contract with Bayern Munich

However, there appears to be a fresh twist in the tale. While previous reports had suggested that contract talks between Alphonso Davies and Bayern Munich were not progressing well, a new update indicates otherwise.

Indeed, as per David Ornstein of The Athletic, there is a solid chance that the left-back, whose market value stands at €70 million, signs a new contract with Bayern Munich.

The report suggests that the latest proposal tabled by the Bavarian giants is much superior to their previous contract offers.

And it appears that it has managed to convince Davies to put pen on paper on the deal. As such, Ornstein claims that unless something changes, the Canadian international could end up renewing his contract with the Bundesliga champions.

If true, it would come as a big blow for Real Madrid who have been planning to sign the 23-year-old for a while now.

The plan was to bring Davies in and offload Ferland Mendy in the summer, but if the former does not arrive, it will be interesting to see if Los Blancos offer the Frenchman a new contract.

Real Madrid will sign off on their successful La Liga campaign today with a fixture against Real Betis at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The game, being seen as a final preparation for the UEFA Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund, sees manager Carlo Ancelotti field his strongest possible lineup.

All eyes will obviously be on the retiring Toni Kroos, who bids goodbye to the Bernabeu in what will be his final home game as a Real Madrid player.

The German international starts in the centre of the park alongside Federico Valverde, while Eduardo Camavinga slots in as the No. 6.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid captain, Nacho Fernandez, also starts in what could be his last game at the Bernabeu as well.

Nacho pairs up with Antonio Rudiger in defence, flanked by the full-back pairing of Dani Carvajal and Ferland Mendy. Thibaut Courtois starts in goal ahead of Andriy Lunin and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Up front, Vinicius Jr. starts in attack, partnering up with Rodrygo Goes. Top scorer Jude Bellingham occupies the attacking midfield role for Real Madrid.
