Real Madrid’s pursuit of top target has slowed down due to veteran duo’s uncertain situations

There is no secret that Real Madrid harbour the dream of signing Jude Bellingham in the coming season. The Spanish giants consider the Borussia Dortmund starlet as the ideal man to spearhead the club’s midfield unit in the years to come.
Aged just 19, Bellingham has mesmerised the footballing world with his skills, maturity and aggression. It has made him an appealing target for a club like Real Madrid. However, with Borussia Dortmund valuing him highly, signing him could be far from straightforward.
To that end, a recent report from Diario AS has offered an update on the future of Bellingham, suggesting Real Madrid’s pursuit of the Englishman has slowed down recently.
This is because of multiple factors, including Bellingham’s own reluctance in making a definitive decision on his future. Borussia Dortmund themselves had hoped to sit down with the midfielder in an attempt to reach a conclusion on the player’s future.
But that meeting has not happened yet. The uncertainty over the Englishman’s future has also seen Real Madrid taking a back seat. The Spanish giants are now willing to wait it out and see what happens with the future of their existing midfield stars Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.
Although the continuity of the two ageing midfielders will not impact the role of Bellingham from a tactical perspective, Real Madrid are planning on waiting one more year and seeking a move for the youngster in the summer of 2024.
With Bellingham’s current deal at Dortmund expiring in 2025, his exit from Signal Iduna Park in the summer of 2024 could allow Real Madrid to sign him for a cut-price figure.
However, nothing has been decided just yet and with Bellingham still left to decide his future, a lot could happen in the coming months.

Real Madrid have made Man City defensive target a top priority for the summer

Although Antonio Rudiger has had success since joining Real Madrid last summer, the club are in need of more depth and players that can form the backbone of the defensive unit in the years to come.
As part of their plans, Real Madrid are prioritising a move for Josko Gvardiol in the coming summer, reports 90 Min.
The outlet suggests Gvardiol will be one of the most wanted prospects in the market, with both Real Madrid and Manchester City eyeing a move for the Croatian international come the end of the season.
Formerly of Dinamo Zagreb, Gvardiol has enjoyed immense success since his move to the Bundesliga in 2021. He has impressed onlookers with his skill, organisation and discipline, which, coupled with his versatility, make him an appealing target for any European giant.
Gvardiol was also one of the top performers at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, helping Croatia finish third in the competition. His performances have not gone unnoticed, with Real Madrid among the clubs who have been keeping an eye on the defender for a while now.
However, signing Gvardiol will be a tricky task for Los Blancos. The player still has a long-term contract at Leipzig and could cost up to €85 million, as reported by 90 Min. Not to mention, the competition from Man City could be significant.
Real Madrid have no shortage of alternatives, though, with the club notably closely monitoring Portuguese defensive whizkid Antonio Silva, among others. So it will be interesting to see how the Spanish giants approach the market in this coming summer.
