Real Madrid’s squad for the 2023/24 season is closed – report

It has been a strange summer transfer window for Real Madrid so far.
Very early in the window, the Merengues had to bid goodbye to club legend Karim Benzema, along with Marco Asensio, Eden Hazard, and Mariano Diaz, while they also allowed Jesus Vallejo to leave.
New faces arrived soon, though, and brought in a lot of excitement as well, with Real Madrid roping in Jude Bellingham, Arda Guler, Joselu, and Fran Garcia, while Brahim Diaz was back after his loan spell.
Then an injury to Thibaut Courtois forced the club to enter into the market and sign Kepa Arrizabalaga on a loan deal.
Another ACL injury to Eder Militao has led to speculations that the Merengues could look to rope in a new centre-back as well.
No more signings
But as per reports from Ruben Canizares on El Golazo de Gol, Real Madrid’s transfer market is considered to be done and dusted and their squad for the 2023/24 season is closed.
The management is understood to be happy with the shape of the roster and the result against Athletic Club on the opening day has only served to reaffirm that feeling.
That stance means that Real Madrid will not be looking to sign a new centre-back despite Militao’s potentially season-ending injury.
It would also mean that Kylian Mbappe’s arrival is also ruled out, despite some sections of the media still claiming that a deal could be possible.
Real Madrid’s decision would also suggest that manager Carlo Ancelotti will go into the season with just one natural No. 9 at his disposal in the form of Joselu.
If so, the manager will have to rely heavily on Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo for goals to make up for the contributions of Benzema and Asensio, which will not be an easy task by any means.

French midfielder admits considering PSG move before Real Madrid called him

Aurelien Tchouameni has had an exciting start to his career at Real Madrid. Since joining the club for almost €80 million last summer, the young Frenchman has now become a pivotal figure in Real Madrid’s midfield unit.
However, prior to his move to Santiago Bernabeu, the midfielder was closely linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
In a recent interview, Tchouameni opened up on his links to PSG but revealed his decision to join Real Madrid.
Aurelien Tchouameni on PSG links
Talking about speculations linking him to PSG, Tchouameni said (h/t Madrid Zone), “PSG? Frankly, I thought about it. It’s a very big European club, we want the French clubs to succeed.”
“But honestly, when Real Madrid calls you, it’s very complicated to say no,” Tchouameni added.

The midfielder was linked with a move to PSG during his time at AS Monaco. Les Parisiens wanted to sign the youngster as part of their plans to reinforce the midfield unit.
Tchouameni, though, ended up opting for a move to Real Madrid, which turned out to be a prudent decision from the midfielder’s end.
Tchouameni’s career at Real Madrid
Aurelien Tchouameni made a total of 50 competitive appearances during his maiden season at Real Madrid.
Although the Frenchman was not entirely a first-team regular in Carlo Ancelotti’s setup, his stature in the team is expected to grow in the coming years.
Especially as Toni Kroos and Luka Modric move on at the end of the season, there is scope for Tchouameni to become a first-team regular in the Real Madrid midfield in the years to come.
The former AS Monaco starlet has already played a crucial role in the starting eleven so far this season and it is only going to continue as the season progresses.
