Report – The main reason behind Yan Diomande’s delayed transfer to Real Madrid
The official announcement of Yan Diomande’s move from RB Leipzig to Real Madrid has been delayed due to an ongoing dispute between two agencies over the player’s representation, reports AS.
On one side is Maxidel Management, led by former Ivory Coast international Max Gradel. On the other is Roc Nation, the global sports agency owned by Jay-Z, which currently represents Diomande.
Maxidel has filed a complaint with FIFA, claiming there was a breach of contract after Real Madrid negotiated the transfer through Roc Nation instead of them.
Maxidel previously handled Diomande’s move from Leganes to RB Leipzig, and the dispute now extends beyond the two agencies, directly affecting the transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Under FIFA regulations, the case could temporarily complicate Diomande’s registration.
Real Madrid caught in the middle
Real Madrid were unaware of the legal dispute and consider themselves uninvolved in the disagreement.
The club remain confident that the issue will eventually be resolved in their favour, but for now they must wait while FIFA reviews the complaint.
A likely solution would be for FIFA to grant Diomande a provisional registration, allowing him to play while the dispute over agent commissions is settled.
As per the report, everything else surrounding the transfer is already in place. The transfer agreement with RB Leipzig has been secured, with the payment structure also agreed between both clubs.
Moreover, the player’s long-term contract with Real Madrid has also been finalised and all the required documentation is ready.
The remaining obstacle is FIFA’s approval.
FIFA reviewing the complaint
FIFA closely regulates football agents and representation agreements and is currently examining the complaint.
In some cases, disputes between agents can delay or even prevent the issuance of the International Transfer Certificate (ITC), which is required to complete an international transfer.
Clubs also have a strong incentive to ensure the correct agent receives commission, as paying the wrong representative can lead to disciplinary consequences.
However, FIFA generally prioritizes a player’s right to work. Even when contractual disputes exist, the governing body often allows players to register with their new clubs while legal or financial claims continue separately.
The origin of the dispute
Maxidel played a key role in Diomande’s rise, arranging his transfer from Leganés to RB Leipzig.
The dispute began after Diomande switched representation earlier this year and joined Roc Nation, one of football’s most influential agencies.
During his summer break following the World Cup, Diomande remained in the United States and visited Roc Nation’s headquarters in New York.
He was also invited to attend one of Jay-Z’s events at Yankee Stadium, having previously met the music icon during the World Cup before the Brazil vs. Ivory Coast match.
Throughout the visit, Diomande was hosted by Michael Yormark, president of Roc Nation Sports International.
It was Roc Nation that conducted negotiations with Real Madrid. For now, both the club and the player are waiting for FIFA to resolve the dispute between the two agencies so the transfer can finally be made official.

Mourinho’s decision to substitute Real Madrid’s best player vs Real Betis sparks confusion
Arda Guler’s substitution in Real Madrid’s 0-1 defeat to Real Betis looked strange from the outside, and the numbers make the decision even harder to understand.
According to AS, the Turkish international was Real Madrid’s leading chance-creator at La Cartuja, producing seven opportunities for his teammates.
He was also the second-best outfield player for ball recoveries, winning possession back five times.
Guler was replaced in the 65th minute by summer signing Yan Diomande, despite having been arguably Madrid’s most influential player in attack.
His defensive work was equally important, leaving Mourinho with a decision that has inevitably attracted attention.
In fact, his work rate in defence and his attacking flair were something Real Madrid’s finishers failed to capitalise on.
Mourinho explains why Guler had to come off
Mourinho acknowledged that removing Guler was difficult, although he believed the possibility of a second yellow card justified the decision.
The midfielder had been booked earlier in the game and Mourinho feared Betis players would deliberately target him after the break.

Guler’s substitutions are becoming a pattern
The Betis match was not the first occasion on which Guler was withdrawn while performing strongly.
Against Espanyol, he was substituted after an hour while Madrid were chasing a winner, despite providing the assist for Jude Bellingham.
He had also been one of the team’s best performers throughout pre-season.
But substituting Guler was then, and it was also against Betis, the easiest substitution.
Guler currently occupies the false right-wing role and remains a regular starter, but Diomande’s arrival adds competition, particularly given the significant fee paid for the new signing.
However, the Turk is seizing every opportunity, even when his teammates struggle to keep up, giving Mourinho even more of a selection headache.
