Real Madrid are expected to be on cloud nine after securing a record 36th La Liga title.

With a few games left to spare in the league, the Merengues celebrated an early triumph due to Barcelona’s slip-up against Girona and Real Madrid’s victory over Cadiz.

But having sealed the title, Los Blancos have much bigger fish to fry in the UEFA Champions League as they prepare to host Bayern Munich at the Santiago Bernabeu in the semi-finals.

Job not finished

Despite the euphoria surrounding their recent achievements, the prevailing sentiment within the Real Madrid locker room is one of caution.

Indeed, according to a report from MARCA, the mantra circulating among the players is clear: “The work is not over yet.”

Real Madrid are known to never rest on their laurels and always keep their ambitions sky high thus this mindset aligns with the club’s age-old commitment to excellence.

Postponement of celebration was to focus on clash with Bayern

The report additionally argues that postponing the celebration of winning the Spanish League title was to focus on facing Bayern Munich.

By postponing the festivities, the Royal Whites aim to keep their concentration intact and not needlessly imperil their chances of potentially booking a ticket to Wembley.

The Royal Spanish Football Federation has announced that Real Madrid will receive their league trophy this Sunday, May 12.

The trophy presentation will take place at Valdebebas, Real Madrid’s training complex, around 9:30 AM.

Upon receiving the trophy in the morning, Real Madrid players are anticipated to leave Valdebebas around 11 AM and make their way to the Almudena Cathedral, before heading to the Cibeles fountain.

Speaking in an interview with Sport BILD (h/t AS), Germany legend Michael Ballack has claimed that Bayer Leverkusen sensation Florian Wirtz is ready to play for Real Madrid.

Wirtz is a player that Real Madrid have been closely monitoring for a while now, with the German sensation being seen as a long-term replacement for Toni Kroos, who announced his retirement yesterday.

A move for Wirtz is being planned for the summer of 2025 and Ballack believes that the Bundesliga title winner with Leverkusen is ready for the big move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

“Wirtz is ready for Real Madrid,” said Ballack.

“In terms of football, Wirtz can definitely play for Real Madrid. You can also see it in Jude Bellingham after his move from BVB: when you play with even better players, you become even better,” he added.

Wirtz has a contract with Bayer Leverkusen that runs until the summer of 2027. As things stand, the new German champions have no intentions of selling their prized asset this year.

However, there appears to be an acceptance that the German international will be on the move in 2025.

Other top clubs like Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also understood to be interested, but Real Madrid are likely to beat them in the race should it come down to that next year.

A move for Wirtz, though, could cost in excess of €100 million for Real Madrid should they do indeed decide to proceed with his signing next year.
