Rodrygo, Lucas Vasquez talk Barcelona, Alaba, Ancelotti after Real Madrid 4-1 Villarreal

Villarreal, despite their best efforts, could not put brakes on Real Madrid’s momentum on Saturday night. The game that unfolded at Santiago Bernabeu, in fact, was largely one-sided as Carlo Ancelotti’s men dominated the proceedings for the greater part.

The scoreboard read 4-1 in favour of Los Blancos at full-time, with Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo Goes, Brahim Diaz and Luka Modric getting on the scoreboard.

Rodrygo Goes spoke to the media after Real Madrid’s comprehensive win on the night, and began his conversation by speaking about the newly established seven-point lead the team had over Barcelona.

“It’s always good to take advantage of Barça, but the seven points of difference are few because there is a lot of League left. We have to continue with this mentality, winning all games. And if you can’t, try not to lose.”

He then elaborated on his great run of form which he furthered against Villarreal with the team’s second goal.

“I’m at a good time. Everything is going well and we have to keep working to continue scoring goals and giving assists to help my team.”

He was then asked about David Alaba who suffered a devastating ACL injury on the night. Speaking about the veteran, Rodrygo revealed some details about the events on the pitch when Alaba went down.

“Alaba was very hard because we asked on the field and he told us that it was the knee with a worried face. At the break, I was very sad.”

“It’s a shame the injured because they are very important players for us, but we are on a good streak with many victories and without losing,” he added.

Rodrygo was seen everywhere with Endrick when the to-be Real Madrid superstar visited the club facilities earlier this week. Speaking about the new signing and the support from the dressing room, the Brazilian said,

“The coach doesn’t need to ask us, we already know that we have to do that, always help and even more with Endrick, who is Brazilian like us.”

“He will arrive at the age of 18, we know the difficulties there are to reach Real Madrid, the largest team in the world. We will help you together,” he concluded.

Lucas Vazquez was the next player to face the press as he made a third consecutive start in the absence of Dani Carvajal.

“I would emmiss the collective commitment. The team has been very intense from the first minute to the end. We have left with a lot of desire to win this game,” he began, lauding his teammates for the promising display.

He went on to highlight Real Madrid’s nearly perfect display off the ball and how the opposition never really got a grip over the proceedings.

“The team has left with a very intense high pressure that has prevented Villarreal from playing its game and you have to be very happy with how the game has turned out.”

Speaking about his performance at a personal level, the right-back said,

“It may have been one of the best matches. The team has been very good both in attack and in defence. We have created occasions and defended very well and we are all leaving happy.”

“As you have a little continuity, things get better. The important thing is the team and having won,” he added modestly.

The Spanish veteran then showered praise on Brahim Diaz who not only starred on the night but also scored a stunning golazo.

“Spectacular. Time has been stopped in the cut. He is a player who is gaining a lot of confidence, he is working a lot and well. Very happy for his goal.”

Speaking on Real Madrid’s feat of going undefeated in 16 games, Vazquez highlighted that it came amidst a severe injury crisis.

“This streak indicates the quality of the squad. We have had problems with many injuries at the start of the season and the level of the team has not dropped at any time.”

“That speaks very well of all the players. They are very committed and that means that we can win titles,” he added.

As part of his post-match interview, the full-back gave his two cents on David Alaba’s gruesome ACL tear and what it meant for the team.

“It’s the big bad news of today. It’s a complicated and long injury. We are having bad luck with those actions. It’s difficult, Alaba is an incredible guy, a great professional.”

“We are sad about that news, but we also know that he is going to give everything to get back better than he was. We will be by your side to accompany you and help you in everything you need,” he added in support of the injured star.

Finally, Vazquez expressed his sincere gratitude to the fans in the stands and the incessant support and love showered on the players.

“It’s been spectacular. The audience helped us from the first minute to win the match. We have all been very comfortable, the audience cheering has been a show. Of those games that you enjoy from within the field.”

PSG president wanted Real Madrid to bear Mbappe’s €80 million loyalty bonus

It is only a matter of days before Kylian Mbappe is officially confirmed as a Real Madrid player.

The French superstar announced his departure from PSG as a free agent recently and even though nothing is official yet, everything points to him arriving at the Spanish capital club.

An official announcement and presentation are expected to take place sometime before the UEFA Euro 2024 starts.

While the move is all but done, it appears that PSG, in particular president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, are left with a bitter taste over Mbappe’s imminent exit.

Al-Khelaifi wanted Real Madrid to pay €80 million

As has already been reported, Al-Khelaifi tried to convince Mbappe to snub Real Madrid by presenting various arguments which had no effect.

Now, French publication L’Equipe has brought forth a report which claims that the PSG president simply cannot accept the fact that Mbappe is joining Real Madrid for free.

And things are now happening behind the scenes which suggest that the Frenchman’s departure will be far from smooth and amicable.

Indeed, as per the report, PSG have not paid Mbappe his salary for the month of April as well as an additional bonus he was due.

This is because of the €80 million loyalty bonus payment that the club had made to the France captain back in February, even though he had waived it off after deciding not to renew his contract.

In August 2023, after he was frozen out of the team for refusing to extend his contract, Mbapp agreed to give up his loyalty bonus so that PSG do not suffer a huge financial hit as a result of his leaving as a free agent this summer.

However, Al Khelaifi made a U-turn and granted Mbappe the loyalty bonus in February this year, with the caveat that Real Madrid cover the €80 million as compensation for the 25-year-old leaving for free.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, however, refused that demand as he deemed that it was completely out of the question, as the La Liga champions are not obligated to pay for a player who will be out of contract in a few weeks.

A complete breakdown

Things have not been well between Mbappe and Al-Khelaifi ever since the player informed him of his decision to leave PSG.

The report suggests that the pair are no longer on speaking terms and that lawyers are involved in trying to resolve the matter of the unpaid dues.

PSG are looking for written confirmation that their all-time top scorer will waive the €80 million, which he had agreed to in the past, only for the club to make the payment.

As for Mbappe, he wants the money he is owed as part of his salary which was not paid in April.

Al-Khelaifi has not had the best relation with Perez either and this development further escalates the situation.
