At the time of his signing, the wait for Endrick’s arrival at Real Madrid appeared long and tedious. After all, the youngster was hyped as one of the brightest upcoming talents of his generation and many dreamt of seeing him in the white colours.

Now, a little over seven months remain before the young Brazilian prodigy is presented as a new Real Madrid player. His incorporation into the dynamics may be gradual, but one can be assured that he will be a mainstay at the club for the next decade at least.

Endrick reveals his idol

Endrick won his second consecutive Brasileiro earlier this week with Palmeiras after the team’s 1-1 draw against Cruzeiro.

His team finished two points above second-placed Gremio, and it was only poetic that the youngster netted the eventual champions’ only goal on the night.

Speaking to the media in a recent interview (h/t Madrid Xtra), the soon-to-be Real Madrid player openly called out a Real Madrid legend to be his idol in the game.

“Cristiano Ronaldo is the greatest player I’ve ever seen play,” Endrick stated, talking about Los Blancos’ all-time leading goalscorer.

“He is my idol. He’s an idol I will have for life for his hard work and dedication,” he added.

A tale of toil

Endrick’s admiration of Ronaldo’s hard work and dedication is understandable, for like the Portuguese star, the road has not been simple for him. The teenager may have signed for Real Madrid early, but the past season was tough on the youngster.

Endrick had no role at Palmeiras at the beginning of the recently concluded season. It reached a point where Real Madrid were worried about his lack of minutes and its impact on his mental strength.

Yet, the youngster never caved in. He held his head high and fought on to make himself a regular starter under Abel Ferreira and finished the league season with 11 goals to his name.

Real Madrid will sign off on their successful La Liga campaign today with a fixture against Real Betis at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The game, being seen as a final preparation for the UEFA Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund, sees manager Carlo Ancelotti field his strongest possible lineup.

All eyes will obviously be on the retiring Toni Kroos, who bids goodbye to the Bernabeu in what will be his final home game as a Real Madrid player.

The German international starts in the centre of the park alongside Federico Valverde, while Eduardo Camavinga slots in as the No. 6.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid captain, Nacho Fernandez, also starts in what could be his last game at the Bernabeu as well.

Nacho pairs up with Antonio Rudiger in defence, flanked by the full-back pairing of Dani Carvajal and Ferland Mendy. Thibaut Courtois starts in goal ahead of Andriy Lunin and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Up front, Vinicius Jr. starts in attack, partnering up with Rodrygo Goes. Top scorer Jude Bellingham occupies the attacking midfield role for Real Madrid.
