Despite Real Madrid’s persistence, Bayern Munich are not ready to give up on their 23-year-old left-back, Alphonso Davies yet.

In fact, the director of the German team, Max Eberl has said that although he has not spoken to the player about a new contract, he is feeling hopeful.

Speaking about the same, Eberl has said that the Bavarians won’t give up on their pursuit.

“I haven’t spoken to Alphonso Davies about the new deal yet. But I always have hope, the story is still open. I won’t give it up,” he told Maximilian Koch.

Real Madrid’s interest in signing Davies is no more a secret. The record European champions reportedly have a verbal agreement in place with the Canadian, but settling on a transfer fee is proving to be difficult for the parties involved.

As reported before, Bayern Munich want at leasts €50 million for Davies, but considering the fact that his current deal runs out in 2025, Real Madrid are only willing to offer €35 million with some conditional add-ons.

Bayern are trying too

Now, it is no secret that amidst Real Madrid’s interest, Bayern Munich are working on their part too. It has been learned that the Bavarians are not in favour of losing him and for that, they are working on a deal of their own.

Since he only has a year left of his deal, Bayern want to tie him down and while the player would be willing to commit his future, the only hindrance that is stalling this negotiation is the player’s extravagant salary expectation of €20 million per year.

At Bayern, they are absolutely not willing to match these figures and if nothing pans out, they might be forced to sell him this year rather than lose him for free in 2025.

Right now, everything related to the Canadian is uncertain and we might have to wait until the season ends to see how the story unfolds.

As Real Madrid get closer and closer to their final game of the season against Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League, they are now sweating over the availability of one of their players.

It has already been confirmed that both David Alaba and Aurelien Tchouameni will miss the finals in London due to injuries.

Other than that, Carlo Ancelotti is likely to have the entirety of his squad available at his disposal, although there could be some concerns surrounding Andriy Lunin.

Lunin not in training for the third day in running

Indeed, Andriy Lunin has not participated in team training today, making it three days in a row heading into the Champions League final, reports Mundo Deportivo.

The Real Madrid goalkeeper is down with a fever that has kept him out of training for three days in a row now.

However, the report does add that despite not being in training for three days now, the Ukrainian international will fly to London and be on the squad list for the finals.

But with reports already suggesting that Thibaut Courtois will be starting in goal against Dortmund, Lunin’s continued absence from training only further strengthens the Belgian’s chances.

Kepa Arrizabalaga, who was absent from training on Tuesday due to personal reasons, is back working with the rest of the squad today. The Spaniard will have no involvement in Saturday’s final though.

Carlo Ancelotti is likely to go with the exact same starting lineup that he named for the Merengues’ final La Liga match against Real Betis.
