Joselu was on the scoresheet as Real Madrid secured a straightforward 3-0 win over Cadiz at the Santiago Bernabeu today.

The Merengues edged even closer to being crowned the champions of La Liga with a win that was earned through goals from Brahim Diaz, Jude Bellingham, and Joselu.

Joselu elated after win

Speaking to the media after the match, goalscorer Joselu expressed his elation with the win, describing how it was special for the team and the fans at the Bernabeu.

“Yes, the truth is that this is priceless. We have the best fans in the world, the best stadium, a work that is recognised by all of them, we give our all on the pitch to experience moments like today,” he said.

“The league is very close and we want to live it with our fans. Today was an important step to prepare for Wednesday’s match.”

Shedding light on the motivation within the squad to keep winning trophies, the veteran Spaniard remarked:

“Incredible. There are young people who are very hungry to win titles with this club, veterans, or not so much like me, who are tremendously excited to be here and live day to day with everything that surrounds all this.

“These are special moments. The season is coming to an end and these fans deserve all the best. Today we will recharge with everything we can to give them a great victory on Wednesday.”

His goal today meant that Joselu has now scored 15 times this season for Real Madrid since joining in the summer. Reflecting on his own campaign, he said:

“I hadn’t been having any luck in front of goal for a few games. I’m happy to keep on adding and helping the team with work and goals. The truth is that this is the result of a very good season and we hope to continue like this.”

Discussing the attacking talent and depth in the squad, Joselu added: “We are surrounded by the best, the best in the world play for Madrid.

“We have an incredible squad, from the first to the last, each one contributing what they can contribute and that is reflected in results and games like today. Any player is ready to play at any time.

“The manager and the coaching staff have done an excellent job with the planning of the squad and we only have one step left on Wednesday, which we’re looking forward to.”

Joselu also discussed the return of Thibaut Courtois, who played his first game of the season after recovering from his knee injuries, saying:

“Tibu is the best in the world. We have a lot of affection and appreciation for him. He has had a very bad season and we were looking forward to today.

“We are very happy for him, for the game he played and the 90 minutes he played after being out for ten months. We are very happy for everything.”

Finally, looking at the next game against Bayern Munich in the UCL, the striker added: “For another magical night. The fans deserve it and we’ll certainly be up to it.”

Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has said that during a recent training session, he bumped into Raul, a former striker and current Castilla manager, who confessed to him that he did not like his decision to retire from the game.

The midfielder added that he would now be interested in playing the Legends match where the likes of Zinedine Zidane, Roberto Carlos and Raul participate.

The veteran admitted that playing alongside these legends one day would be quite exciting.

“When I left the training yesterday, Raul was outside. He told me that he did not like the decision at first but found something positive because now I’m definitely playing this legends game with him,” said Kroos on his podcast

“He said I had to be there. Me and Zizou playing behind him, Figo on the right, and RC3 (Roberto Carlos) at the back. That could be funny,” he added.

During the early hours of Tuesday, May 21, Kroos announced that he would retire from professional football after the upcoming European Championship in his home country.

As a result, Real Madrid now have to work on an alternate strategy to plan life beyond Kroos. As suggested before, the Los Blancos are of the idea that at present, there is no one in the market who can fill the void.

On the other hand, though, Dani Ceballos’ chances of staying have now increased. At the same time, there are reports that Joshua Kimmich is being monitored, but nothing seems concrete yet.

For now, Real Madrid are largely expected to rely on the current roster as the likes of Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, Federico Valverde and even Jude Bellingham are more than capable of occupying Kroos’ position.

If even that does not work out, the team from the Spanish capital can look into the youth system to rope in a capable alternative.
