Real Madrid’s summer signing Endrick faced an unfortunate setback during Palmeiras’ recent 2-1 triumph over Independiente del Valle, which secured the top spot in Copa Libertadores 2024’s Group F for his side.

According to a report from SPORT, the budding talent was forced off the field on a stretcher in the 58th minute due to discomfort in his thigh.

Despite being just 17, the young striker sustained an injury, possibly aggravated by a previous collision minutes before in the same match.

Endrick visibly struggled on the synthetic turf of Allianz Parque, enduring the intensity of Independiente del Valle’s gameplay.

Is Endrick’s injury serious?

The young forward received immediate attention from the physiotherapists, who administered ice to alleviate his discomfort.

As of today, the exact nature and severity of the injury, as well as the expected recovery time, remain uncertain and Endrick is set to undergo imaging tests in Sao Paulo today to determine the extent of the damage.

Depending on the diagnosis, there is a chance Endrick may not feature for Palmeiras again.

With Brasileirao fixtures suspended for two days due to flooding in Rio Grande do Sul, Palmeiras have no official matches until their Copa do Brasil fixture against Botafogo on Thursday, the 23rd.

Endrick has more duties to play

Endrick’s upcoming commitments extend beyond club football. He has been summoned for the 2024 Copa America, requiring his presence in the United States by the 3rd for pre-tournament preparations.

Brazil are scheduled for friendlies against Mexico and the United States before their tournament opener against Costa Rica on the 24th in Los Angeles.

The young forward’s journey continues as he is poised to join Real Madrid’s pre-season training under Carlo Ancelotti’s guidance.

It is suggested that his arrival in Madrid is slated for July 21, coinciding with his attainment of legal adulthood, enabling him to fully immerse himself in his new team’s preparations

As Toni Kroos prepares to play his final match at the Santiago Bernabeu as a Real Madrid player tonight, an interesting revelation has come forth regarding his career.

A bonafide legend at the club, Kroos signed for Los Blancos in the summer of 2014, arriving in a deal worth just €25 million from Bayern Munich.

In the decade he has been at the club, the 34-year-old German has won all possible trophies and titles available to him.

However, it could have all been very different for Kroos as he could have ended up at Real Madrid’s arch-rivals Barcelona.

Indeed, as per journalist Ramon Besa on Cadena SER (via AS), when Kroos decided to leave Bayern Munich in 2014, he was considering both Barcelona and Real Madrid as options.

In fact, then-Bayern manager Pep Guardiola also put his name forward at Barça but the Catalans decided against the move while Kroos also decided in favour of Real Madrid.

“I remember the case of Kroos very well because I asked Guardiola about him when he left Bayern and he presented himself as an alternative that could be signed by Barcelona or Madrid,” the journalist recalled.

“The player had the idea of leaving Bayern and wasn’t sure whether to go to Madrid or Barça. Barcelona didn’t know how to bid, they thought they had alternative players. There was even talk of [Sergi] Samper as an alternative midfielder.”

Further continuing, Besa added: “They rejected Kroos. Guardiola warned that he was a very interesting player and for whatever reason he opted for Madrid.

“Barça didn’t know how to want him or offer him what he wanted. He has triumphed at Madrid in an extraordinary way.”
