Brahim Diaz has had a very perplexing career at Real Madrid so far, since moving from Manchester City.

He spent his initial couple of seasons out on loan before returning to the Spanish capital and earning a place in the first-team squad.

Since then, Madrid have gone through a host of managers, and all of them have seen value in keeping the Moroccan around.

A star in his own right for his country and a naturally talented playmaker, Brahim has never really managed to establish himself as a starter for Madrid.

However, he has always played an important role off the bench, competing and proving to be the ultimate squad player.

Brahim’s route to minutes has further diminished this summer following the arrival of Yan Diomande, which has sparked speculation about his future.

However, according to Ben Fernandes Santos, Diaz is expected to remain at Real Madrid, with the Morocco international having no intention of leaving and Jose Mourinho continuing to trust him as part of the squad.

The 27-year-old is very clear that he wants to stay, and the club have not indicated otherwise for him to consider a potential exit.

Mourinho’s confidence is another key factor.

Brahim may not be one of the undisputed starters, but his ability to play in several attacking positions makes him a useful option across a long season.

He can operate from the right, as a No. 10 or in narrower attacking roles, giving Mourinho flexibility when rotating or changing the structure during matches.

That versatility could prove especially valuable given the number of competitions Madrid are targeting.

A departure was never really on the cards

Santos adds that if Madrid had actually considered selling Brahim, the player would have been willing to listen to offers.

However, such a scenario never actually developed.

It is clear that Madrid see the value in keeping Brahim around and, as long as he is not unhappy with his role, there is no reason to worry.

From the player’s perspective, the 27-year-old is entering the prime years of his career, and if he does not get many opportunities this season, he could push for a move next summer.

However, that is a problem for Madrid to grapple with when they get to it and, for now, they need to focus on the fact that he is staying.

Unless something drastic changes, the Moroccan is set to spend yet another season at the Bernabeu, and it remains to be seen how Mourinho uses him in the coming months.

Former Real Madrid Castilla star’s Premier League move collapses, ruins club’s €8.5 million windfall

Real Madrid’s summer has been special so far in terms of academy player sales, and the club has accumulated serious profits not only from direct sales but also in terms of indirect windfalls.

As of earlier this week, Los Blancos were even set to receive yet another such unexpected gift – this time from former academy star Javi Rueda who plays at Celta Vigo.

The youngster, who has dished out good performances in La Liga, was said to have attracted interest from Nottingham Forest and Real Madrid took special interest in the development as they hold 50% of his rights.

Deal off the table

Now, in what comes as a colossal and unexpected blow for Los Blancos, Rueda’s transfer to the Premier League-based side has collapsed as reported by Abraham P Romero.

Talks were in the final stages and an agreement was close to being reached. At the last moment, however, the negotiations were called off and the transfer now appears complicated.

Given that Rueda’s release clause stands at €40 million, there was an initial expectation that Real Madrid would receive €20 million from the transfer.

As confirmed by the Spanish journalist, however, Real Madrid were set to reap close to €8.5 million from the fee negotiated which they will now no longer land. The deal, after all, was close to being completed for a fee of €17 million in the end.

Manager’s words weigh heavily

The reason for the collapse of the transfer is surprisingly not from Nottingham Forest’s end but from Celta Vigo’s end. Claudio Giraldez, Celta’s manager, spoke on Rueda earlier this week and his words are said to have transformed the situation.

“I don’t have the final decision about things, but if that decision were to be made, obviously it’s a decision that I don’t agree with. In the figures that are more or less talked about, it seems to me a bad sale. That’s why I trust it won’t happen,” he said via El Desmarque.

“He is an important player for us. We want him here, I trust he will be here, that we will not sell him. That’s why he enters the call and one more for tomorrow’s game. I hope the market ends with him here,” he added, when asked about Rueda’s future.

Needless to say, the manager’s words reached the administration who seem to have pulled the plug on the sale now.
