Following the incident that took place against Benfica, it is natural for someone like Vinicius Jr. to go into a state of depression and anxiety, having once again been subjected to racism, this time at a stage like the UEFA Champions League.

However, as reported by ESPN, Vinicius Jr. is in good condition and profoundly grateful for the unwavering support he has received from Real Madrid.

Vinicius welcomes Mbappe’s support

The Brazilian superstar specifically appreciates the backing of his teammates, with Kylian Mbappé’s solidarity standing out the most.

This gratitude comes just one day after Vinicius formally accused Benfica’s Gianluca Prestianni of directing racial abuse at him during the playoff first leg in Lisbon.

Mbappe took immediate action by speaking directly with Vinícius after the match, promising to address the media regarding the incident.

The French forward kept his word, publicly confirming the racism complaint and strongly defending his teammate in post-match interviews.

This clear stance, particularly Mbappe’s immediate position while still on the pitch, has generated a deep sense of gratitude within Vinicius’ inner circle.

The incident occurred shortly after Vinicius scored the winning goal in the 50th minute, prompting a 10-minute pause in the match. Mbappe told the media that he and other Real Madrid players heard Prestianni call him a ‘monkey’ five times while covering his mouth.

Despite Benfica and coach Jose Mourinho arguing against the claims and criticising the Brazilian’s goal celebration, Mbappe firmly demanded that Prestianni face consequences.

Prestianni, who currently faces a potential 10-match ban, has denied the allegations on social media by claiming Vinicius misinterpreted the situation.

Meanwhile, UEFA has appointed a special investigator to gather evidence regarding the alleged breach of their disciplinary code.

Throughout this challenging period, the strong relationship between Vinícius and Mbappe has been evident.

Real Madrid will be gunning for their fourth consecutive win in La Liga tonight when they take on Real Betis away at Estadio de La Cartuja.

The Merengues, led by Jose Mourinho, are one of two clubs to have maintained a perfect start to the season, along with arch-rivals Barcelona, and will be intent on carrying the streak forward.

Ahead of kickoff , Real Madrid have announced the starting lineup that will take the field against Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

And, Mourinho has made a few changes to the side that started against Malaga last weekend.

Arda Guler, who scored Real Madrid’s fourth goal in the last game, gets the nod on the right flank ahead of Brahim Diaz.

Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr., and Jude Bellingham make up the rest of the attacking contingent for the record European champions. Meanwhile, marquee summer signing Yan Diomande continues on the bench.

There is no change in midfield as the manager has opted to stick with the pivot pairing of Eduardo Camavinga and Federico Valverde, leaving Bernardo Silva out.

However, Mourinho has made a couple of switches in defence, with Denzel Dumfries and Ibrahima Konate coming into the team, replacing Trent Alexander-Arnold and Antonio Rudiger, respectively.

Dean Huijsen and Marc Cucurella complete the rest of the backline that shields Thibaut Courtois in goal.
