Over the past week or so, Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr has been dominating all the headlines in the world of football, as he started a full-on war against racism in La Liga.

The 22-year-old superstar has been subjected to racist attacks on multiple occasions over the course of the ongoing campaign, with the latest occurrence coming in the game against Valencia last weekend.

Following the shocking incident, Vinicius called out La Liga, RFEF, and Spain over the lack of action taken against racism despite it becoming a recurring issue.

The Brazilian international has garnered a huge wave of support from fans, fellow footballers, and other prominent personalities from various different fields across the globe in his fight against this evil.

And, now, Vinicius’ former club, Flamengo are also planning a great show of support for the 22-year-old.

Indeed, according to MARCA, Flamengo will be wearing a special shirt to pay tribute to Vinicius during their game against Cruzeiro later today.

The shirt will have “Todos com Vini Jr”, which translates to “everyone with Vini Jr” written across the centre where usually the main sponsor appears.

A mosaic depicting the same message will also be displayed in the stadium as Flamengo show their support for their former wonderkid in the fight against racism.

On the backside of the shirt, another message “La Lucha Antiracista”, i.e., “The Anti-Racist Fight” will be written at the request of one of the club’s sponsors.

Vinicius made 49 appearances for Flamengo, scoring ten goals in the process and catching the eye of several top clubs across Europe in the process. However, it was Real Madrid who moved quickly and secured his signing for a fee of around €45 million.

And that investment has paid off big time for the Merengues as he is now one of the deadliest forwards in the game.

There just does not appear to be any respite from injuries for Real Madrid.

Just when it appeared that they were close to having their full squad – barring the two long-term absentees – the Merengues have been struck down by fresh injuries this week.

Arda Guler, who was on the cusp of being named in the squad for the Las Palmas clash, injured himself in training on Tuesday.

And now, during the game against Las Palmas at the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid have lost key defender David Alaba to an injury.

Close to the 40th-minute mark, Alaba went down on the ground clutching his leg and appeared to be in quite a bit of discomfort.

Soon enough, the medical staff arrived to take a look at the Austrian and seconds later he was off the pitch and straight towards the tunnel.

Lucas Vazquez came on to replace the injured Alaba, with Nacho Fernandez moving into the centre-back position alongside Antonio Rudiger.

Alaba’s injury leaves Carlo Ancelotti with just two fit centre-backs in Rudiger and Nacho, which is set to be a matter of great concern.

The hope will be that Alaba’s condition is nothing serious and that he is able to mount a quick recovery.
