Vinicius threatened to not play a game for Real Madrid owing to social media post – report

Real Madrid’s recent away match against Valencia had no shortage of drama. But the fixture had ignited the spark even before the kick-off as a report from Mundo Deportivo has affirmed that Vinicius Jr. threatened the Los Blancos that he would not participate in the fixture due to some inappropriate remarks.

The outlet mentions that just two days prior to the scheduled match, a significant altercation unfolded between Vinicius and the management of Real Madrid.

Interestingly, this discord had no direct correlation with the upcoming Valencia match nor the debate stirred by Netflix’s request to enter the Mestalla being denied for documentary filming.

So what really happened?

As it turns out, a publication hosted on Real Madrid’s official social media channels had sparked frustration within the attacker to the extent that he even contemplated refraining from participating in the fixture.

This publication prominently featured the emblem of the ‘Vini Vici’ group, drawing inspiration from the evolutionary journey from apes to humans—a depiction that evidently annoyed the Brazilian player.

Moreover, the inclusion of an image portraying Vinicius kissing the club’s crest failed to satisfy his displeasure.

What happened next?

Within moments of its release, the threat that the publication possessed became apparent, prompting swift reactions.

With the hour barely passed, the networks and publications had caught wind of the incident, and Vinicius himself wasted no time seeking clarification.

Stepping into the matter to address the player’s concerns was Jose Angel Sanchez, the general director of Real Madrid. His task was to calm the player and ensure his participation in the forthcoming match.

In exchange, immediate measures were promised and promptly delivered by the club. Thus, the incident was controlled, allowing Vinicius to shine on the field, where he secured a remarkable double, although the match ended in bad taste for Real Madrid as a whole.

Real Madrid will sign off on their successful La Liga campaign today with a fixture against Real Betis at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The game, being seen as a final preparation for the UEFA Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund, sees manager Carlo Ancelotti field his strongest possible lineup.

All eyes will obviously be on the retiring Toni Kroos, who bids goodbye to the Bernabeu in what will be his final home game as a Real Madrid player.

The German international starts in the centre of the park alongside Federico Valverde, while Eduardo Camavinga slots in as the No. 6.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid captain, Nacho Fernandez, also starts in what could be his last game at the Bernabeu as well.

Nacho pairs up with Antonio Rudiger in defence, flanked by the full-back pairing of Dani Carvajal and Ferland Mendy. Thibaut Courtois starts in goal ahead of Andriy Lunin and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Up front, Vinicius Jr. starts in attack, partnering up with Rodrygo Goes. Top scorer Jude Bellingham occupies the attacking midfield role for Real Madrid.
