Liverpool midfielders have become a hot topic of sorts in the Real Madrid camp lately.

Earlier in the season, Dominik Szoboszlai was linked with a move to Santiago Bernabeu. But the links are not only restricted to the Hungarian international, as Alexis Mac Allister has also been linked with a move to the Spanish capital.

What makes things interesting is that Mac Allister’s father, Carlos, has recently denied having any contract talks with Liverpool, amid reports linking him to Santiago Bernabeu.

Mac Allister not in talks with Liverpool

Diario AS reports that Carlos Mac Allister, in a recent interaction with Win Win, has denied his son having any renewal talks with Liverpool.

“There are no negotiations with Liverpool to renew the contract,” said Carlos, whose comments come against the backdrop of Ryan Gravenberch’s recent extension.

Mac Allister, alongside Szoboszlai and Gravenberch are considered the trident of the Liverpool midfield.

But the renewal of Gravenberch, coupled with Liverpool’s high regard for Szoboszlai, has put question marks on Mac Allister’s future.

Despite having a contract at Anfield until 2028, the Argentine has already been linked with a move to Real Madrid and given his status at Liverpool, it won’t be surprising to see him fancy a move elsewhere.

That being said, Mac Allister’s father has assured that his son is happy and comfortable at Liverpool, at least for now.

Whether or not this will change in the near future remains to be seen. It will be particularly interesting to see if Real Madrid will make a move for the Argentine international in the coming summer.

The Spanish giants are reportedly open to selling Eduardo Camavinga at the end of the season, potentially paving the way for the club to bring in fresh faces.

Real Madrid will be looking to pick up their fifth win of the 2026/27 La Liga season when they take on Elche CF at Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero later tonight.

With 12 points from five games, Los Blancos are currently second in the league table, three points below leaders FC Barcelona.

As such, the Spanish capital club will be eager to get the win and close the gap to the top.

Guler starts, Bellingham rested

Ahead of kickoff, Real Madrid have announced the starting lineup that will take the field against Elche, with Jose Mourinho making some important changes.

For starters, Arda Guler is back in the lineup after appearing as a substitute in the win over Rayo Vallecano.

Interestingly, however, he starts in the attacking midfield role, with Mourinho opting to rest Jude Bellingham, who has started all of Real Madrid’s games so far.

That also means that Yan Diomande retains his place in the team, starting for a second time in a row on the right wing. Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. continue in their respective positions in attack.

Another notable change sees Aurelien Tchouameni make his first start of the season after recovering from injury and making two appearances off the bench.

He replaces Bernardo Silva as Federico Valverde’s partner in the middle of the park.

Meanwhile, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Marc Cucurella come in as full-backs, while Ibrahima Konate and Dean Huijsen slot in at centre-back in front of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
