Guardiola confirms key Man City midfielder will be fit for Real Madrid clash after injury scare

Manchester City took one step towards lifting the Premier League title when they defeated Everton 3-0 on Sunday away at Goodison Park. With Arsenal losing against Brighton & Hove Albion, the league title is as good as won for Pep Guardiola & co.
Now, their focus will shift towards the UEFA Champions League where they will face Real Madrid in the second leg of the semi-finals on Wednesday night.
The first leg, played at the Santiago Bernabeu last week, ended in a 1-1 draw thanks to two stunning goals from Vinicius Jr and Kevin De Bruyne.
With everything to play for in the reverse fixture at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday, Manchester City were dealt an injury scare as key midfielder Rodri was taken off late in the game against Everton due to some discomfort.
Indeed, the former Atletico Madrid midfielder made way for Kalvin Phillips in the 88th minute at Goodison Park and was seen limping off the pitch. It caused some concerns within the Manchester City fanbase as the Real Madrid clash was just a couple of days away.
However, manager Guardiola has assured that Rodri’s issue is nothing serious and the Spanish international will be available for the game against Los Merengues.
“He will be fine on Wednesday,” the Man City boss said, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
With Guardiola confident about recovering Rodri for the game, it would leave Nathan Ake as the only injury doubt for the Mancunian outfit for Wednesday’s clash. The Dutch defender missed the first leg last week and is still not cleared to return.
As for Real Madrid, Eduardo Camavinga had emerged as a fitness concern after he picked up an injury against Getafe last weekend. But, the Frenchman’s situation is not serious and he is expected to be ready in time for the trip to England.

Real Madrid reach agreement with Borussia Dortmund for Bellingham, medical to follow

In a huge development, David Ornstein of The Athletic is reporting that Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement over the transfer of midfield sensation Jude Bellingham.
The 19-year-old prodigy had become one of Los Blancos’ main priorities for the summer transfer window and the club had been working on a deal for him for months now.
And after seeing off competition from the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City, the Merengues managed to reach an agreement with Bellingham over personal terms last month.
Talks with Dortmund were put on hold until the Bundesliga season was over, but things have accelerated in recent times. Earlier this week, reports emerged claiming that positive talks had been held between the two clubs.
And now, Real Madrid have reached a total agreement with Dortmund for Bellingham’s signing. As per the report, the transfer fee for the teenage sensation will exceed €100 million, making it one of the most expensive operations in the history of both clubs.
The deal has not been signed yet, but it is considered only a mere formality at this point. Soon, the England international will undergo his medicals in the coming days as well before completing the transfer to Real Madrid.
Bellingham might not be the only Englishman to end up at the Spanish capital this summer as Los Blancos also have their sights set on a move for his national team captain, Harry Kane.
Indeed, the 29-year-old Tottenham Hotspur superstar is a primary target for Real Madrid as a replacement for Karim Benzema, who completed his transfer to Al Ittihad. The Merengues are understood to be preparing an €80 million offer for him, but it could fall short of Spurs’ valuation.
