In what could be yet another injury blow for Real Madrid, midfield mainstay Eduardo Camavinga is not in training with the rest of the team ahead of tomorrow’s clash against UD Almeria.

Reporting on the situation, journalist Jose Luis Sanchez is claiming that the 20-year-old rising star is dealing with a muscle overload in his left leg which is why he is not on the pitch training with the rest of the squad.

However, the journalist adds that the Frenchman’s availability for the clash against Almeria is not completely ruled out.

Camavinga a key player for Ancelotti

Camavinga has grown into one of the most important players for Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid over the past year or so.

The 20-year-old recently completed 100 appearances for the club when he started in the 2-0 win over Athletic Club in the season opener last weekend.

Camavinga is seen as a pivotal part of the team, along with fellow midfielder Federico Valverde, in Ancelotti’s new 4-4-2 midfield diamond formation.

So, his potential injury would come as a big blow for Real Madrid, especially at a time when they have already lost two other key players in Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao, both of whom are unlikely to play again this season.

Apart from Courtois and Militao, Real Madrid will also be without Dani Ceballos and Ferland Mendy for the weekend encounter.

As of now, though, Camavinga’s involvement against Almeria is not entirely ruled out, but he is a doubt for the fixture. And a clearer picture should emerge when Ancelotti addresses the press later today.

There just does not appear to be any respite from injuries for Real Madrid.

Just when it appeared that they were close to having their full squad – barring the two long-term absentees – the Merengues have been struck down by fresh injuries this week.

Arda Guler, who was on the cusp of being named in the squad for the Las Palmas clash, injured himself in training on Tuesday.

And now, during the game against Las Palmas at the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid have lost key defender David Alaba to an injury.

Close to the 40th-minute mark, Alaba went down on the ground clutching his leg and appeared to be in quite a bit of discomfort.

Soon enough, the medical staff arrived to take a look at the Austrian and seconds later he was off the pitch and straight towards the tunnel.

Lucas Vazquez came on to replace the injured Alaba, with Nacho Fernandez moving into the centre-back position alongside Antonio Rudiger.

Alaba’s injury leaves Carlo Ancelotti with just two fit centre-backs in Rudiger and Nacho, which is set to be a matter of great concern.

The hope will be that Alaba’s condition is nothing serious and that he is able to mount a quick recovery.
