World football’s most anticipated clash at the moment is the face-off between Real Madrid and PSG early next week. The clash on the heavyweights has several delicate confrontations that are worth individual headlines.
Lionel Messi’s return to Spain and Santiago Bernabeu indeed makes one big news. However, Kylian Mbappe facing off against his dream club is another fine detail that cant go unnoticed.
Real Madrid are said to be in pole position to sign Mbappe on a free transfer in June. However, the 23-year-old has so far refused to comment on the topic. When asked about his plans and Real Madrid in particular, Mbappe said,
“Even if I’m free to talk to Real Madrid I won’t out of respect for Paris, the game against Madrid changes a lot of things but I haven’t made my decision yet.” (h/t RMC Sport)
However, he then gave a small hint as to when he would talk about his next club.
“We’ll see what happens after the Madrid tie. Right now I won’t talk to the rival, even if I can.”
PSG are trying to renew the forward’s contract before the summer to recuperate at least part of their investment. It remains to be seen if Mbappe breaks the ice around his future after the clash against Real Madrid.
Arsenal boss requests €25 million-rated Real Madrid attacker
Marco Asensio is among the players who are facing an uncertain future at Real Madrid as we approach the second half of the campaign.
The attacker’s current deal at Santiago Bernabeu expires at the end of the season. And despite showing glimpses of his potential during the course of this campaign, his continuity in the Spanish capital is far from guaranteed.
According to Fichajes, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has urged the club to push for an operation to sign Asensio at the end of the season.
The Spanish tactician has identified Asensio as an ideal candidate to reinforce his ranks in the attacking unit. The Real Madrid star, after all, brings in a wealth of experience, having featured in over 260 competitive matches for Los Blancos.
The forward’s tally of 53 goals and 29 assists is not bad by any means either. And given his versatility in the final third of the pitch, he could be a useful addition for Arsenal in the coming season.
But the Real Madrid camp will not too keen on offloading their star player. The club have been impressed by the attacker’s performance, which could potentially lead to a renewal offer later this year.
However, it must be noted that Real Madrid are yet to table any official offer for the attacker. In fact, it is Arsenal who have started laying the groundwork and are expected to meet the player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, in London to discuss a potential move to Emirates Stadium.
It appears Liverpool are in the mix as well, though Arsenal remain the favourite due to the presence of Mikel Arteta. Barcelona, too, had showcased interest in signing Asensio in the summer, so it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the Spaniard in the coming months.
