Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is a massive admirer of Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez, according to journalist Alex Crook (h/t Madrid Xtra), sparking intense speculation over a potential blockbuster summer transfer.
The influential Los Blancos chief is highly enamoured with the Argentine international’s elite profile, with the journalist mentioning this situation as one to “keep an eye” on ahead of the summer transfer window.
Perez’s long-standing admiration
Perez’s fascination with Fernandez is not entirely new, with Real Madrid having had an interest in him forquite some time now.
But his interest has intensified as the Merengues look to strengthen their midfield after what was yet another underwhelming campaign.
The club hierarchy views the 25-year-old World Cup winner as the ideal technical engine to dictate play at the Santiago Bernabeu.
A complicated operation
While the president’s immense interest makes Real Madrid a concrete threat, pryng Fernandez away from Stamford Bridge presents a monumental financial and structural hurdle.
Despite having had some issues with the Argentine this season, Chelsea consider the midfielder an integral part of their long-term core and are under no immediate economic pressure to sell.

Manchester City and Chelsea also showed serious interest in signing the England international during the summer. However, Crystal Palace were unwilling to sell, effectively ruling out a move for the midfielder.
But it appears that they could open the doors for Wharton to leave in the summer of 2027, potentially paving the way for Real Madrid to make a move.
