Real Madrid summer target sets key condition to renew contract with Bayern Munich – report
For much of the summer, one player who was heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid was Bayern Munich superstar Michael Olise.
However, with the Frenchman looking like an unrealistic target, Los Blancos shifted their attention to signing Yan Diomande for a record fee from RB Leipzig.
Madrid’s long-standing interest in the former Crystal Palace winger is well documented, and this feels like a transfer saga that could keep reappearing in the coming transfer windows.
Now, according to BILD (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Bayern want to begin renewal talks with Olise, whose existing deal runs until 2029.
The German champions are determined to protect one of their biggest stars after refusing to entertain interest in him during the summer.
Bayern prepare enormous offer
Olise has only strengthened his reputation this season.
The 24-year-old has eight goals and four assists for Bayern across all competitions, following a remarkable 2025-26 campaign in which he recorded 22 goals and 31 assists at club level.

Bayern now want to extend his contract until 2032 and are preparing an offer worth €25 million net per season.
That would place Olise alongside Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala among the club’s highest earners.
Olise is said to be open to negotiating an extension, but there is one significant condition. The France international wants a release clause inserted into any new agreement, potentially worth around €200 million.
Real Madrid given something to monitor
For Real Madrid, although the renewal might normally push them away from the player, the release clause offers a degree of hope for the future.
Olise signing until 2032 without a release clause in place would make an already difficult operation even harder.
A release clause, even an enormous one, would at least establish a clear route for a future transfer without Bayern having complete control over negotiations.
€200 million is not a normal figure, but for a player of Olise’s quality, it might be a premium Madrid are willing to pay.
Olise remains an intriguing fit at Madrid
Madrid already possess enormous attacking talent, yet Olise offers a profile that could make particular tactical sense.

He is naturally left-footed and operates from the right, potentially providing greater balance to an attack containing players who frequently prefer central or left-sided areas.
His creativity, to go along with his goalscoring output, also makes him much more than a conventional winger.
Bayern have no intention of losing him, but a renewal with a release clause could suit Real Madrid.
It remains to be seen whether the Frenchman is seen wearing Madrid white and playing at the Bernabeu in the coming seasons.

Ex-Real Madrid presidential candidate wanted to bring Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta as manager
The presidential election at Real Madrid this summer was something unprecedented but despite the best efforts of Enrique Riquelme, he couldn’t do much to dethrone Florentino Perez.
That being said, some of Riquelme’s ideas have now become more relevant than ever, including his pitch to sign Jurgen Klopp as the new manager, instead of Jose Mourinho.
However, Riquelme wasn’t always in favour of Klopp and in fact, had initially pitched Mikel Arteta as the next manager for Real Madrid.
Riquelme had favoured Arteta
According to The Athletic, Riquelme had identified Arteta as a potential successor to then-coach Alvaro Arbeloa as part of his election campaign.

The context came amid Arteta’s own contract situation at Arsenal, with the Spaniard having just signed a new four-year deal following the club’s Premier League triumph.
The report notes that Real Madrid were the biggest club searching for a new coach at the time, and Riquelme saw Arteta as an appealing candidate.
Ultimately, though, Riquelme’s campaign shifted towards Klopp, while Perez, who won the election, opted to bring back Mourinho.
As a result, Arteta’s name never progressed beyond an early consideration, and the Spaniard remained fully committed to Arsenal, where he continues to build on his growing legacy.
Arteta has consistently dismissed interest from elsewhere, including links to Barcelona in 2024.
Mourinho has his work cut out

While Real Madrid ultimately chose Mourinho, the early signs suggest the Portuguese has a significant task on his hands.
Los Blancos have endured a stuttering start to the season, already sitting well behind runaway leaders Barcelona in La Liga.
Performances have been inconsistent, with the team lacking intensity and cohesion, and reports have even pointed to unrest within the dressing room.
That has inevitably led to questions over whether a different appointment, such as Arteta or Klopp, might have offered a smoother transition.
Arteta, in particular, has proven his credentials by ending Arsenal’s long wait for a Premier League title, doing so against a dominant Manchester City.
For now, Mourinho must find a way to turn things around and justify Perez’s faith. With a demanding run of fixtures ahead, including El Clasico, the pressure is already building.
