As we head into the summer transfer window, Real Madrid are left with just two senior forwards on their books in the form of Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo Goes.

With Karim Benzema, Marco Asensio, Eden Hazard, and Mariano Diaz all leaving, it goes without saying that the Merengues need to replenish their attacking unit in the summer as a matter of utmost priority.

To that end, they have identified Chelsea ace Kai Havertz as one of the main targets. The 23-year-old is a versatile operator who can play in multiple positions in the final third of the pitch, which makes him an appealing target for Real Madrid.

However, the operation to sign Havertz is understood to have stalled of late.

Fabrizio Romano has come up with an update on the matter, stating that while Real Madrid continue to hold an interest in the German international, they see his valuation of €60 million plus add-ons as expensive.

As such, they are not willing to meet those figures, which has led to the move not progressing at the moment.

Havertz signed for Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2020. In 139 appearances for the Blues, he has a return of 32 goals and 15 assists, with the match-winning goal in the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League final against Manchester City being his most notable achievement.

The German international finished with just nine goals in close to 50 appearances this past season. So, it is natural for Real Madrid to have aspersions about shelling out €60 million plus add-ons on his signing at a time when they are looking to strengthen other positions as well.

Only time will tell whether there is any progress made on this front or if the Merengues decide to completely abandon their pursuit of Havertz.

Aurelien Tchouameni has had an exciting start to his career at Real Madrid. Since joining the club for almost €80 million last summer, the young Frenchman has now become a pivotal figure in Real Madrid’s midfield unit.

However, prior to his move to Santiago Bernabeu, the midfielder was closely linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

In a recent interview, Tchouameni opened up on his links to PSG but revealed his decision to join Real Madrid.

Talking about speculations linking him to PSG, Tchouameni said (h/t Madrid Zone), “PSG? Frankly, I thought about it. It’s a very big European club, we want the French clubs to succeed.”

“But honestly, when Real Madrid calls you, it’s very complicated to say no,” Tchouameni added.

The midfielder was linked with a move to PSG during his time at AS Monaco. Les Parisiens wanted to sign the youngster as part of their plans to reinforce the midfield unit.

Tchouameni, though, ended up opting for a move to Real Madrid, which turned out to be a prudent decision from the midfielder’s end.

Tchouameni’s career at Real Madrid

Aurelien Tchouameni made a total of 50 competitive appearances during his maiden season at Real Madrid.

Although the Frenchman was not entirely a first-team regular in Carlo Ancelotti’s setup, his stature in the team is expected to grow in the coming years.

Especially as Toni Kroos and Luka Modric move on at the end of the season, there is scope for Tchouameni to become a first-team regular in the Real Madrid midfield in the years to come.

The former AS Monaco starlet has already played a crucial role in the starting eleven so far this season and it is only going to continue as the season progresses.
