Real Madrid will seek €150m for Vinicius if renewal fails after improved €22m contract offer
According to ESPN, Real Madrid are set to hold a decisive round of contract talks with Vinicius Jr.’s representatives this week, but the club have no intention of increasing their latest renewal offer despite the ongoing deadlock.
As reported earlier today, Real Madrid recently improved their proposal following the World Cup, offering the Brazilian a package worth around €22 million per season.
However, club sources insist that figure represents their limit.
Significant gap remains
While negotiations are set to resume, the two sides remain some distance apart financially.
Vinicius is seeking a salary of around €30 million per year, leaving a considerable gap between his demands and Real Madrid’s final offer.
The Brazilian currently earns approximately €17.5 million annually and is entering the final year of his contract, which expires in June 2027.
Key meeting scheduled
The report claims that a face-to-face meeting between club executives and the winger’s representatives is scheduled for this week, with Wednesday expected to be the key day for discussions.
Leading the negotiations on Real Madrid’s side will be chief scout Juni Calafat, who has played a central role in pushing for Vinicius to remain at the club.
Despite the financial differences, both parties remain in contact as they attempt to find common ground.
The player and his representatives believe this renewal is the defining contract of his career.
At 26 years old, they feel Vinicius deserves to be rewarded for everything he has contributed since arriving from Flamengo in 2018, including scoring in two UEFA Champions League finals and becoming one of the club’s most influential players.
€150 million fee if no agreement
If no agreement is reached, Vinicius will be able to negotiate a pre-contract with overseas clubs from January, before potentially leaving on a free transfer at the end of the season.
To avoid that scenario, Real Madrid are prepared to consider selling him this summer if renewal talks collapse completely.
According to the report, the Merengues would seek a transfer fee of around €150 million, despite the winger having only one year remaining on his contract.
Arsenal remain in the fray
Vinicius has been heavily linked with Premier League champions Arsenal throughout the summer, although no formal agreement has been reached with any interested club.
However, talks have taken place between the player’s camp and the Gunners in the background, and there is a sense of growing optimism at the Emirates Stadium regarding a mvoe.
For now, the Brazilian has returned to work under new manager Jose Mourinho, completing medical tests and his first training sessions after his post-World Cup holiday while his future continues to dominate headlines.

Diomande compared to Halley’s Comet
Roc Nation identified Diomande while he was still at Leipzig, and Freitas explained just how quickly the agency became convinced by his potential.
“We are always looking at the stars, but while looking at the stars, sometimes a comet appears,” Freitas said.
“I can say that Yan, among the stars, is like a comet, a Halley that you find every eight or ten years. And when the possibility of working with him came to us, we did not think twice.”
The agency subsequently built a personalised structure around Diomande to help his development, although convincing Leipzig to part with such a valuable young player was never expected to be straightforward.
“A player of this level, every club wants to keep. We knew it would be a great challenge, a difficult task to make this transfer happen,” he explained.

Freitas also revealed that several major clubs wanted Diomande before Madrid eventually secured his signature.
“Many of the most important, richest and most qualified clubs in the world showed interest in Yan,” he said.
However, once Madrid entered the race, Roc Nation felt the dynamic changed completely.
“But I always say that for players, Real Madrid is the Pele of clubs,” Freitas explained.
“When Real Madrid’s interest appears, there is nothing more the other clubs can do.”
Freitas believes Diomande’s unpredictability makes him particularly suited to Madrid, where opponents regularly defend with the primary objective of containing their attacking talent.
“Yan is a player who can bring a lot of surprise to Madrid,” he said, highlighting his ability to break tactical structures and create unexpected situations.
Diomande is still a young player who needs time under Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese tactician is easing him into action.
The teenager may not be starting for Madrid yet, but it will not be long before he gets the nod. Jose is said to be keen to avoid another Mastantuono situation with him.
One thing is clear, though: everyone who has worked with Madrid in some capacity thinks the sky is the limit for him, and it remains to be seen whether he hits those heights at the Bernabeu.
