Liverpool make contract for Real Madrid midfielder as club weigh summer sale – report
According to reports from England (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Liverpool have identified Eduardo Camavinga as a potential reinforcement this summer after Real Madrid made the French midfielder available for transfer.
The Premier League club, now managed by Andoni Iraola, are monitoring Camavinga’s situation closely as they continue to assess options to strengthen their midfield ahead of the new season.
Liverpool make initial contact
Liverpool have already contacted Real Madrid to gather information about the French midfielder’s availability and the conditions of a possible transfer.
The Spanish club are believed to value the 23-year-old at around €60 million and would be open to negotiating a sale if an offer matching that valuation arrives during the transfer window.
Real Madrid’s willingness to listen to proposals stems after yet another subpar season from the former Rennes wonderkid, who fell behind Thiago Pitarch in the pecking order in the second half of the previous campaign.
It has naturally attracted interest from several clubs, with Liverpool among the most attentive, with Los Blancos hoping to raise more than €100 million from player sales this summer.
Camavinga wants to stay
Despite growing interest from England, the biggest obstacle to any deal appears to be the player himself.
Camavinga has no intention of leaving Real Madrid this summer and remains fully committed to earning his place at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The 23-year-old midfielder believes he can turn his situation around under new manager Jose Mourinho and establish himself as an important part of the squad.
Focused on convincing Mourinho
Rather than considering offers from abroad, Camavinga is said to have instructed his representatives not to entertain approaches from other clubs.
His priority is to impress Mourinho during pre-season and prove that he deserves a significant role in the Portuguese coach’s plans.
While Real Madrid may be willing to negotiate if a substantial offer arrives, Camavinga’s determination to remain in Madrid currently makes any transfer unlikely.
For now, Liverpool’s interest seems genuine, but unless the midfielder changes his stance, a move to Anfield appears difficult to complete this summer.
Real Madrid will be looking to pick up their fifth win of the 2026/27 La Liga season when they take on Elche CF at Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero later tonight.
With 12 points from five games, Los Blancos are currently second in the league table, three points below leaders FC Barcelona.
As such, the Spanish capital club will be eager to get the win and close the gap to the top.
Guler starts, Bellingham rested
Ahead of kickoff, Real Madrid have announced the starting lineup that will take the field against Elche, with Jose Mourinho making some important changes.
For starters, Arda Guler is back in the lineup after appearing as a substitute in the win over Rayo Vallecano.
Interestingly, however, he starts in the attacking midfield role, with Mourinho opting to rest Jude Bellingham, who has started all of Real Madrid’s games so far.
That also means that Yan Diomande retains his place in the team, starting for a second time in a row on the right wing. Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. continue in their respective positions in attack.
Another notable change sees Aurelien Tchouameni make his first start of the season after recovering from injury and making two appearances off the bench.
He replaces Bernardo Silva as Federico Valverde’s partner in the middle of the park.
Meanwhile, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Marc Cucurella come in as full-backs, while Ibrahima Konate and Dean Huijsen slot in at centre-back in front of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
