Real Madrid’s midfield has been the subject of growing speculation throughout the summer, but one question now appears to have a definitive answer. 

Federico Valverde will not be leaving the Santiago Bernabeu, with Jose Mourinho making it clear that the Uruguayan remains a central figure in his plans for the new season.

According to transfer market specialist Fabrizio Romano, there is no possibility of Valverde departing this summer despite recent reports linking him with a potential exit. 

The decision comes at a time when Real Madrid are assessing their squad in an effort to create room for further arrivals, particularly after strengthening several areas of the team.

With Aurelien Tchouameni recently committing his future to the club through a contract extension and Vinicius Jr.’s renewal also progressing, Mourinho has become increasingly influential in shaping the club’s long-term project. 

In that regard, one of his first major calls has been to keep Valverde at the heart of that rebuild.

Mourinho ends Valverde speculation

Real Madrid’s midfield has become increasingly competitive following the arrival of Bernardo Silva and the future renewal of key players. 

The abundance of options naturally led to questions over whether the club would sacrifice one established midfielder to balance the squad and generate funds for additional business.

Valverde’s name surfaced in those conversations because of his significant market value and the growing competition for places. 

However, Romano has now dismissed those doubts, confirming that Mourinho has decided the 27-year-old is not available for transfer.

Rather than viewing him as a player who could finance further signings, Mourinho sees Valverde as one of the pillars around which Real Madrid’s next team will be built.

Camavinga’s future remains the biggest question

While Valverde’s position has become much clearer, uncertainty continues to surround Eduardo Camavinga.

Real Madrid are not actively looking to move the French international on, but the club remain open to evaluating serious offers should they arrive. 

Camavinga continues to attract strong interest across Europe, with several Premier League clubs monitoring his situation because of his age, versatility and long-term potential.

Despite the speculation, the midfielder has shown no desire to seek a new challenge. 

In fact, his priority is to report for pre-season, impress Mourinho on the training pitch and fight for his place through performances rather than looking for opportunities elsewhere.
