Real Madrid, Man City ready to make a move for Bayern Munich star this summer

There is no doubt that Real Madrid are bracing themselves for a crucial summer ahead, with the reigning European champions likely to target multiple stars in an attempt to strengthen the squad.
One of the problem areas is the fullback department, with the club lacking proper depth on either side of the field. Real Madrid have already been strongly linked with a move for Chelsea star Reece James, who could be available for just €50 million.
But a report from Florian Plettenberg (h/t iMiaSanMia) now suggests Real Madrid could also make a move for Alphonso Davies. Recent reports have hailed the Bayern Munich man as one of the club’s priorities in their bid to strengthen the left-back position.
Davies, as Plettenberg mentions, is a target for both Real Madrid and Manchester City. The two European giants may approach the Canadian international in the coming summer, instead of waiting out another year.
The former Vancouver starlet, who is known for his speed and agility out wide, has been linked with a move away from Allianz Arena lately and is facing an uncertain future in Bavaria.
A Real Madrid move for Davies would come in the back of reports linking Ferland Mendy with a move away from Santiago Bernabeu. The Frenchman has done well since arriving at the club, but he has faced criticism for his lack of consistency and potential.
It has led to Real Madrid entering the market for other left-backs in the market, with Davies emerging as the ideal option. At 22, the Canadian could be a smart long-term investment for the club and a potential fix in the left-back department, considering Real Madrid have yet to find a proper replacement for Marcelo.

Real Madrid maintain full confidence in Turkish starlet despite injury woes

Arda Guler’s Real Madrid stint has not gotten off to the start he would have hoped to have given the expectation that preceded the transfer.
Having joined in the summer after Real Madrid outbid their competition to win him over from Fenerbahce for a 20-million-euro fee, buzz was high as the winger was expected to slot into the team quite seamlessly, albeit on a rotational basis.
Unfortunately for the 18-year-old, he has been constantly marred by injuries since completing the move.
Reports have stated that after Guler picked up his third injury since his move, Real Madrid have been concerned and want to take things slow with the player to ensure he is fit as soon as possible after an injury to his quadriceps this time.
The Turk is yet to make his competitive debut for the club, and Real Madrid even sacked their medical chief in November, in light of their injury crises since the beginning of the season.

No loan deal for Guler
However, according to Fabrizio Romano in a recent YouTube video, he states that Madrid maintain full trust and patience in the youngster.
Despite his bad luck with injuries, the latest of which he is scheduled to return from after Christmas, the Galacticos have no intention of loaning out Guler to Turkish clubs despite lots of speculation of them doing so of late.
Romano states that Madrid remain firm on not shaking things up too much with the squad, and they want to keep their roster stable, including Arda Guler.
They want to extend their full support and protection to the player as he aims to return to full fitness and finally make his bow for Madrid either by the end of this month or in 2024.
